Dar es Salaam City Tour (Half day)

Guests can be assured that the guides are the best available in the area. Expect the weather to be hot and humid. The order of sites may vary depending on traffic. Some of the sites are closed on Sundays, Saturdays and during public holidays.

This tour provides a look at Dar es Salaam with some insight into daily activities. Your driver will take you through the city centre and toward Mnazi Mmoja Park where you can see a replica of the Uhuru torch monument. The original one was erected on Mt. Kilimanjaro to commemorate freedom from colonialism that came with independence.

Continue with your sightseeing drive, heading to Village museum, Tinganga market, the Mwenge Carvings Market and National Museum where you will be able to see historical and archaeological items, among them Louis and Mary Leakey’s findings from Olduvai Gorge. These human fossils displayed in the Hall of Man include the skull of the so-called Nutcracker Man. There is also a collection of tribal ornaments, headdresses, witchcraft paraphernalia and traditional musical instruments collected from various regions in Tanzania. (The museum is not air-conditioned). The tour starts and ends in Dar es Salaam city centre.

Dolphin Adventures (Full Day)

This tour will take you to one of the earlier capitals of the Island, Kizmkazi, where traces of an Old Shirazi settlement ]may be seen in an enclosure surrounded by a wall near the seashore.  Near the walled enclosure is the oldest mosque on the island where an inscription records that the mosque was built in A. H. 500 (A. D. 1107) by a Sheikh Seyyid Abi Amran, who appears to have been a local ruler.  Out-side the mosque is a well and the graves of Sharifs (descendants of the Prophet).

You will then proceed to a small fishing village where you will be taken for a boat ride (in a motorized local boat) in search of dolphins (85% likelihood of seeing them).  Lunch will be served at Kizimkazi.
