½ Day Kizimkazi Dolphin

Transfer to Kizimkazi in Menai bay where you board a traditional sail boat (dhow) and head off in search of dolphins. An outboard engine is used for this excursion. Kizimkazi fishing village is home to several schools of bottle-nosed dolphins and Humpback dolphins, that are often sighted on short boat trips from the village. You may be lucky and get to swim and play with the friendly dolphins at close range, what a rewarding experience!

½ Day Jozani Forest Tour

Transfer to Jozani Forest, the largest conservation area in Zanzibar and the only remaining natural mangrove forest on the island. Jozani is renowned for its hairy ape residents, the Red Colobus monkey. Endemic to Zanzibar, visitors come from far and wide to view the highly endangered Red Colobus monkey, now numbering only 1500. Nature lovers can walk through the 100 different towering tree species and marvel at the rich variety of birdlife and other small wildlife that inhabit the cool woodland area.

Full Day Safari Blue

The original and the best “Safari Blue” is our full day excursion using locally made traditional sailing dhows of between 8 to 10 metres in length. We operate 6 passenger-dhows that are finished to the very high standards and fitted with outboard engines, marine VHF radios, gas inflatable life jackets, sunshade, boarding ladder, waterproof bags and first aid kit.

The excursion begins with a transfer to the fishing village of Fumba, 30 minutes drive from Stone Town. Fumba is an ideal point to explore Menai Bay, designated a conservation area. The bay has a number of beautiful uninhabited islands and sandbanks and is frequented by humpback and bottlenose dolphins. Dolphins are seen on at least 85% of these trips. Later in the morning we will stop on a sandbank where we will set up sunshades and fit snorkelling equipment. Guides, who can safely lead the snorkelling session and show points of interest, accompany the clients. For beginners or those who are not confident swimmers, we have inflatable snorkelling vests and our guides will give tuition.

After snorkelling we offer fresh green coconuts before we move to the desert island for lunch, served on teak picnic tables set up under the shades of tamarind trees. Lunch is a traditional Zanzibari meal and includes a selection of grilled fish, slipper lobster, squid, and rice, tamarind and coriander sauces. A gastronomic fruit tasting follows with a selection of 10 to 15 different tropical fruits. Return to Fumba by sail and arrive back at 6 p.m. in time to see the colourful African sunset.

Note: 2 half day Zanzibar excursions may be combined to make full day.

½ Day Spice Tour

Since the abolition of the slave trade, spices have been at the heart of Zanzibari enterprise. The sheer variety that grow on the island highlights its strategic location as well as the depth of cultural interaction. Indeed no trip to Zanzibar could be considered complete without a visit to one of our carefully selected spice farms. This involves visiting the spice plantations to see different spices and to learn about their nature and uses, and even taste some of them right on the spot, depending on the season. In addition you can also see medicinal, cosmetic and ornamental plants as well as herbs. Some of the most interesting plants you will see include cloves, nutmeg, rambutan, lipstick, iodine plant, lemon grass, vanilla, henna and shampoo plant.

Our spice tour offers you the opportunity to indulge your senses with a kaleidoscope of smells, tastes and textures. From the punch of a chili to the refreshing succulence of green coconut flesh, this tour will awaken your senses. It also provides you with the unique opportunity to purchase these exclusive spices straight from the source. Finally we visit the Kidichi Persian baths that were built by the first Sultan of Zanzibar, Sultan Seid Said bin Sultan in 1850 and Maruhubi palace ruins built by the third Sultan of Zanzibar, Sultan Said Baraghash bin Said in 1880 which were built especially for housing 99 of his harem.

Note: 2 half day Zanzibar excursions may be combined to make full day.

½ Day Stone Town and Shopping

This three and a half hour tour begins with a visit to Zanzibar’s colourful market, alive with the buzz of locals bartering over fresh vegetables and baskets of tropical fruit, amongst the heady smell of Jack fruit and many other exotic fruits. We will continue to the site of the cathedral built in 1874. The cathedral signifies a potent time in Zanzibar’s history and stands on the sight of a past slave market, its altar standing on the exact position of the whipping post. Slavery was abolished in 1873 through a decree passed by the then Sultan of Zanzibar. From here we visit the residence of the late Sultans of Zanzibar, ‘Tipu Tip House’, the Old Fort, ‘Peoples Palace’ and the 'House of Wonders', full of intrigue and vivid history from a bygone era. The tour ends with a stroll through the narrow streets of old Stone Town, the heart of Zanzibar’s vivacious history where there is time for shopping.

Note: 2 half day Zanzibar excursions may be combined to make full day.

Zanzibar Beach Vacation

Off the coast of Tanzania, just a few kilometers across the ocean from Dar es Salaam is the “spice island” of Zanzibar, a slumbering paradise in the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, caressed by the cool trade winds. Once a bustling centre for slave and ivory trade, Zanzibar has been the historical doorway to the exploration of nineteenth century. Famous personalities like Dr. David Livingstone, Stanley, Burton, Speke, Rebman - to name but a few – used Zanzibar as the jumping-off point for their African trips.
